Install the extension

Use only the installation channel supplied by your organization. Do not install copies from unknown sources.

Steps

  1. Ask your administrator for the approved Defend link or package for your computer.
  2. If you receive the official ZIP and your organization permits manual installation, extract it to a permanent folder. Open chrome://extensions, enable Developer mode and choose Load unpacked. Select the folder containing manifest.json. If Chrome is managed, ask your administrator to complete installation.
  3. Open Chrome’s extensions menu and find Defend. You can pin it for easier access to the popup.
  4. Open Defend and sign in. Then open or reload ChatGPT and check the protection state.

Expected result

The Defend popup opens and shows its state. Installation is different from active protection. If Chrome blocks installation, ask your administrator for help; do not disable device restrictions.
